Meeting the ever-increasing demands of the market requires constant investment and a willingness to innovate, paying attention to every single aspect. Ocrim never stops growing and with it, one by one, so do the production departments to continue to guarantee quality, efficiency, safety and reliability to those who choose our products. Investments in recent years in Lean Manufacturing (see post “The new 4.0 units: great production capacity and optimised processes”), have helped to reduce working time, making it more efficient and safer, reduce maintenance costs and, above all, have resulted in energy savings.

Continuing in this direction, a new machine was added to the carpentry, specifically in manual welding. Manual welding is a process that requires the utmost precision and relies entirely on human skill. In fact, it is the great craftsmanship of our operators, their experience, attention and care for detail, that allows us to offer consistently impeccable quality. Therefore, at the end of 2022, we modernised the department with the introduction of a handheld fiber laser welding machine, which has been operational since the beginning of this year. It is an aesthetically pleasing, smoother welding than traditional, with excellent penetration on different types of materials (carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminium) up to 3mm thick; it is 2 to 10 times, depending on the type of material used, faster than MIG/MAG and TIG welding. Handheld laser welding machine allows less material to be used and consumables have a longer life span, making the welding work more efficient, safe, energy-saving and environmentally friendly.
