On April 13th the 122nd annual American IAOM (International Association of Operative Millers) conference ended, the premier educational event for grain milling and seed processing professionals. Like every year OCRIM took part in the exhibition presenting to the market the latest news, the “immersive reality”, thanks to which it received the IAOM 2018 Best Product Showcase Award.

The IAOM 2018 Best Product Showcase

April is a very busy month for the many international exhibitions and symposia on the calendar. This year OCRIM took part, among others, at DJAZAGRO (Algiers-Algeria, April 9-12, 2018) and at MÜHLENCHEMIE CONFERENCE (Accra – Ghana, April 12-14, 2018). Worthy of attention was the presence of OCRIM at the IAOM USA Annual Conference & Expo (Atlanta, Georgia – USA, April 9-13, 2018), coming into its 122nd edition. It is one of the annual meetings of the International Association of Operative Millers (IAOM) that allows milling sector professionals to keep up-to-date on all the news in the sector through workshops and training seminars. At the OCRIM booth there were: Fabrizio Baccinelli – Sales Director, Marco Galli – Director of Technological Department and Matteo Codella – Automation Department Manager. OCRIM, at the beginning of this year, had been selected, together with five other companies (Fawema Gmbh, Haver & Boecker Usa Inc., Buhler, Kice Industries Inc., Satake Usa Inc.), to participate in the “Product Showcase”. It is an initiative of the Association that allows selected companies to promote their products in ten minutes directly from their stand. Well, this year OCRIM has defeated the “rivals” and won the coveted award for the best product presented, the “immersive reality”. At 21:15 (CEST) of April 12, 2018 at the foyer, after an accurate jury selection (composed of a select group of visitors), Matteo Codella, speaker of the presentation, has received, on behalf of OCRIM, with pride and satisfaction the 2018 Best Product Showcase Award (in the picture Mr. Randy Garvert – Senior Director, Operations of Ardent Mills, delivers the award to Codella). In real time, despite the time zone difference there have been the compliments of the OCRIM CEO, Alberto Antolini: “Be proud, as I am. Celebrate with a good glass of wine, strictly Italian”.

Immersive Reality

They look like extravagant glasses, actually it is a VR visor that allows user to live a virtual experience interacting with the RMI-S roller mill (placed in a futuristic laboratory), without physically touching it. This innovative technology, in this demonstration field, allows interact with the rolling mill, literally enter inside it, verifying all its functions (milling and feeding rolls in motion, feeding bell in filling and emptying, opening of the side and front casings, management of any alarms etc.). Presented last September at the “GRANO, FARINA, E …” edition 2017, immersive reality is a prototype that OCRIM is developing to allow it to become a concrete support for maintenance and daily training operations, not only for the milling phase, but also for the phases before and after this, in order to cover the entire milling process.
