In today’s dynamic and competitive market environment, responding to changing needs requires a constant commitment to innovation and targeted investment. Ocrim, true to its mission of excellence, has embarked on a path of continuous growth, progressively strengthening its production departments. This includes the recent replacement of the manual booth with a new automatic system equipped with six reciprocators. This advanced system allows powder coating of parts, offering numerous advantages in terms of efficiency, sustainability and worker safety.

The new automatic booth manages the continuous flow of workpieces hung on hooks, controlled by a PLC control system.

The coating process is completed with a static oven, also controlled by a PLC, characterised by ‘forced convection’ with cross recirculation. This oven allows pieces to be cured quickly, maintaining temperatures between 160°C and 200°C. The efficiency of the oven helps to reduce overall production time.

What are the main advantages of the new system?

  • Reduced processing times: powder coating eliminates the need to apply a primer, simplifying the process and reducing associated costs.
  • Reduced environmental impact: using powder coating means completely eliminating the use of solvents and being more environmentally friendly.
  • Lower energy consumption: the flow of air inside the oven is significantly reduced, as there is no potentially explosive solvent to remove. This leads to less overheating of the air, lower energy consumption and, consequently, lower costs.
  • Worker safety: powder coating reduces health risks for operators by minimising skin irritations, respiratory problems and visual impacts, which are typical of liquid paints containing solvents.
  • Increased corrosion resistance: powder coating gives the parts greater resistance to corrosion, prolonging the life of the finished product.

The switch from manual to automatic powder coating represents a significant step in modernising the production processes. In addition to the operational and economic benefits, this upgrade demonstrates the company’s commitment to innovation and the ongoing pursuit of excellence in production. This innovation once again demonstrates the willingness of a company to meet the challenges of the market and to meet customers’ growing expectations in terms of quality and environmental responsibility.
